Functional Yoga for Aging Bodies 6 Hour Certification Program
Saturday, November 14, 2026
12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
With 19.5% of the Canadian population over the age of 65, we recognize the importance of understanding and supporting this growing demographic. Leading yoga practices that truly meet their needs requires specific knowledge and thoughtful application. Functional yoga for aging bodies supports improved flexibility, joint mobility, and overall ease of movement—helping to reduce stiffness and increase range of motion.
In addition, offering classes that support those living with chronic conditions—many of which are associated with aging—allows teachers to better serve a broader range of students. With the right approach, yoga can help alleviate symptoms related to chronic pain, arthritis, and reduced mobility.
This 6-hour training explores the anatomy of the aging body and provides a thorough overview of common chronic conditions. We then apply this knowledge to the creation of classes that are functional, inclusive, and appropriate for our aging population.
You will gain practical tools to modify flows and postures, with an emphasis on strengthening and stabilizing the legs, core, and back to enhance balance and overall stability—benefiting both teacher and student.
