About Reiki

Reiki is the universal life energy, called chi or prana, that exists in every living thing. As described in eastern healing practices like Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda, Reiki energy travels through meridians in our body, which are essentially veins but carry energy instead of blood. If the energy gets sluggish or stuck in our meridians, this can cause stagnation in our body and mind. As a hands-on healing approach, Reiki gently allows for the distribution and integration of energy through these meridians to increase overall well-being.

With a calming effect on the nervous system, research shows that Reiki can help reduce pain, stress and fatigue. As a safe and non-invasive approach to health, Reiki is also used world-wide to assist in the healing protocol for a variety of ailments or we can simply use Reiki to rejuvenate the body and mind.

How to become a Reiki practitioner

In Usui Shiki Ryoho, which is the Usui System of Reiki Healing, there are 3 levels:

Level 1: You learn Reiki basics and how to give yourself Reiki. After level 1 you can keep giving Reiki to yourself and others close to you like children, family, and friends.

Level 2: You build on Reiki basics and learn the Reiki symbols. You also learn how to give distance Reiki. You can give Reiki to anyone after this level.

Level 3: You learn how to teach Reiki to others and are officially called a Reiki Master after this level.

Each Reiki level includes attunements.

About Reiki attunements

Attunements are part of each Reiki level. During an attunement, the Reiki Master/Teacher uses a sequence of techniques to open your energy channels and chakras to the universal life energy. During the attunement, you will connect to a new energy vibration which is why it’s recommended to learn Reiki one level at a time. The attunements can create a deeper experience of meditation, a feeling of bliss and oneness. Some people may feel a little dizzy, tired, nauseous or emotional after an attunement. These symptoms are mild and usually don’t last long. When the attunement is complete, you are permanently connected to this new and uplifting energy vibration.
