Somatic Yin

In-Studio Training

Sunday, October 26
12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The majority of our students begin a yoga practice to improve flexibility, ease tension, and reduce stress. As their practice matures, they begin to experience the meditative qualities and become more receptive to the flow of Prāna. As teachers we want to have the skills and knowledge to not only help them discover the wonderful physical benefits, but we also want to have the ability to help them experience the more subtle and yet profound energetic benefits.

Chronic muscular tension (CMT) affects everyone to varying degrees. CMT is often invisible. It can be painful and block a student’s yoga journey.

As an engineer and as an experienced yin yoga teacher with studies in tantra and hatha yoga, yin yoga, and gentle somatic yoga Brian will share how to use the science of somatics to gradually, logically and efficiently guide your students in a practice that not only dissolves chronic muscular tension, but in a practice that awakens the mind to the energetic body. These techniques apply to all yoga practices.

Somatic Yin

Somatic Yin builds on the science of somatics to identify the cause of chronic muscular tension, and gently dissolve that tension.

What are people saying about Somatic Yin:

  • “The pain in my low back is almost gone”
  • “My most disliked Yin pose (Supported Bridge) is now my favorite”
  • “I can’t believe how much invisible tension was in my right flank – Tension is gone”
  • “ I can twist again!!”

In this training you will:

  • Discover the three key reflexes, the impact they have on the physical and energetic self.
  • Learn about Sensory Motor Amnesia – The source of Chronic Muscular Tension.
  • Learn techniques to erase Chronic Muscular Tension – Pandiculation, Somatic Movement.
  • Understand the science behind Somatic Yin –  leading to increased range of motion, ease of movement, freedom, and joy.
  • Learn how to develop a personal practice that meets your own physical and energetic needs.

The training includes a set of notes, and a sample class plan to help you continue exploring and building your own Somatic Yin practices.
